poetry

cookie cutter

there’s a measure of time
in the cookie cutter
my hands bend
into the silver folds
our parents left us

the playground is punched
into our hearts
into a single shape
we carry onto the fridge

it all begins
in our fingers
it all lies
in the discarded dough
we have yet to touch
